Freed Hybrid has finally and officially launched in Japan, how soon do you think it will reach the Indonesian plant ? I am eagerly waiting for it to reach Malaysia. Thanks Pak for the interesting articles.

Excellent post Mike!
I was aiming at the Low-Budget one… Luxio.
However, I am wondering if what you say about the “captain-seat” in Luxio exist.
I surf around Google for that but i did not find any reference to the existence of “CS Luxio”
I ask the guy at the mall (during the Daihatsu dealer exhibition) but they are not sure.
Can you comment on this?

By the way, I am also a Honda fan (driving City-TypeZ at the moment), but personally i think the Freed is overpriced. Due to fact that the expansion rate of my family is faster than my financial portfolio, I really have to forget about Freed and choose the Luxio (after selling my old beloved Honda of course).

For cars with three row seats, I don’t think any model and brands would provide sufficient protection against an object with huge surface area coming from behind. Given that most three rowers has short distance between the rear hatch and the seats like you said… Well, unless you happen to sit on the third row of Mercedes Viano or VW Transporter with their ample cargo area behind the third row.

Not to say the Freed is not safe. According to Honda technical “factbook”, Freed’s rear hatch frame is strengthen on its four corners, on the top edges and on the bottom edges on the supporting member of the rear bumper. There’s no video or proof of image, but it’s better than nothing.
